Central Coast & Nelson Bay

Moikka! Keksittiin Nickin kanssa lähteä tossa joulun alla pienelle roadtripille Central Coastille. Oli superhauskaa! Matkaan lähdettiin samana päivänä kun idea matkasta syntyi, noin yhentoista aikaan illalla sen kummempia suunnitelmia tai hostellivarauksia tekemättä. Aluksi päädyttiin mukavalle pikku "rannalle" nimeltä Tanilba Bay, jossa pulahdin heti yöuinnille kolmen tunnin autossa istumisen jälkeen. Yö nukuttiinkin sitten autossa erittäin sikeästi (not). Onneks mukana oli sentään pikkujoululahjaks saatu skumppapullo, joka pidettiin kylmänä mäkistä pöllittyjen jääpalojen avulla.

Hey guys! We decided to go on a road trip to Central Coast on the weekend before Christmas. It was so much fun! We left probably at 11pm on friday night, pretty much at the same time that the whole idea of a road trip was born and we didn't have any plans or hostel bookings. At first we arrived this lovely little bay, I think it's called Tanilba bay. I went for a night swim cause I had so much energy after sitting in the car for three hours, best feeling ever! We basically spent the night in the car, had a really good sleep (not really). Luckily we had a little sparkling wine bottle that we kept cold with the help of ice cubes from Mc Donald's!

Aamulla päätettiin ettiä kokonaan uus mesta ja mahdollisesti hostelli, jossa voitais viettää seuraava yö. Turha luulo. Majotuksen kanssa ei natsannu, koska kaikki mestat oli täynnä "peak seasonin" takia tai superuberkalliita. Mut ei se meininkiä haitannu, sillä löydettiin ihan uskomattoman upee, tyhillään oleva ranta, jossa vietettiin koko päivä ja myös seuraava yö aurinkoteltan ja vain yhden makuupussin turvin, märät pyyhkeet peittoina! (Tähän koko rannallanukkumis ratkasuun päädyttiin vasta piiitkän suostuttelun jälkeen...) Kyllä me varmaan muutama tunti unta taidettiin saada hyttysistä ja valtameren kylmyydestä huolimatta. Yolo. 

In the morning we decided to find a whole new spot and a hostel that we could spent the next night in. Apparently all the hostels were booked because of the peak season or they were just way too expensive. Luckily we found a beautiful and totally empty beach that we spent the whole day at. We also ended up spending the following night on the same beach in a sun tent with only one sleeping bag and wet towels as blankets! (This whole sleeping on the beach thing wouldn't have happened without A LOT of persuading first...) Anyway we did sleep for a couple of hours despite the mosquitos and the coldness of the ocean right next to us. Yolo.

Sunnutaina kokeiltiin erilaisia aktiviteettejä Nelson Bay:ssä, josta mieleenpainuvin oli varmaankin kajakointi delfiinien uidessa ja hyppiessä vieressä! Niistä on vaan ihan mahotonta saada yhtäkään kuvaa, niin vikkeliä otuksia! Osallistuttiin myös delfiiniristeilylle, jossa nähtiin noita sulosia otuksia vaan parin metrin päästä! Oli kyl ihan mahtava road trip ja ajotus oli täydellinen: oli ihana päästä hetkeks pois Sydneyn vilinästä ja kiireisestä joulutunnelmasta ja kokea jotain täysin erilaista. Nähtiin jopa joulupukkeja melomassa seisaalteen keskellä merta!

On Sunday we kept ourselves busy trying different activities at Nelson Bay. The best was definitely kayaking while dolphins were swimming and jumping next to us! Unfortunately it's impossible to get any photos of a dolphin, they're so quick! Later that day we went on a dolphin cruise and saw dolphins only two meters away from us! This road trip was definitely worth of going. It was the perfect time to escape the Christmas fuzz in Sydney and experience something totally different. We even saw a group of Santas stand up paddling in the middle of the sea!
