The East Coast: Whitsundays & Airlie Beach

Heissan! Eli Fraserin jälkeen oli vuorossa Whitsundaysin purjehdusreissu, joka oli ihan kreisi. Mut ensin piti mennä Airlie Beachille, josta ne kaikki botskit lähtee Whitsundaysille. Nää oli varmaan mun kaks lempparipaikkaa heti Byron Bayn jälkeen! Toi hiekka Whitsundaysilla on siis ihan uskomatonta!! Ja vesi älyttömän kirkasta. Vene jolla lähdin matkaan oli hullu bilelaiva nimeltä Atlantic Clipper. 54 ihmistä, vesiliukumäki, jacuzzi, juomapelejä ja siis ihan hullua meininkiä. Päivisin snorklattiin ja käytiin retkillä (muun muassa tuolla kuuluisalla Whitehaven Beachillä) ja illalla syötiin ja dokattiin hahah.

Hey guyys! So after Fraser Island I went sailing at The Whitsundays and that was totally crazy. But first I had to go to Airlie Beach, where all the boats to The Whitsundays are leaving from. These two places were probably the two of my favourites after Byron! The sand at The Whitsundays is just something unbelievable!! And the water is so clear. The boat that I went on was a CRAZY party boat called Atlantic Clipper. There were 54 people, a water slide, jacuzzi, many many drinking games and it was just insane. During the day we went snorkeling and did some walks (we went for example to the world famous Whitehaven Beach) and during the night we just ate, drank and got absolutely shitfaced haha.

Purjehdusreissun jälkeen mulla oli vielä pari yötä jäljellä Airliellä, mutta en muistaakseni tehnyt mitään erikoista. Käytiin ulkona tanssimassa saksalaisten ja kanadalaisten kamujen kanssa, tykkään Airlie Beachin baareista ja muutenkin tosi kiva paikka mennä ulos! Ainiin ja käytiin kanssa kattomassa uponnutta laivaa, jonne olikin ihana 15 minuutin kävely upottavan mudan halki! Se oli aikamoinen seikkailu, mutta siitäkin selvittiin! :D Mun vikana iltana Airlie Beachillä oltiin kanssa ulkona hillumassa jossain ja aamulla oli tiedossa bussimatka Mission Beachin kautta Cairnsiin, joka oli mun viimenen kohde! Palaillaan!

After the sailing trip I still had couple of nights in Airlie Beach, but I didn´t really do much as far as I remember. We went out dancing with my German and Canadian friends. I really liked the bars in Airlie Beach and I think it´s fun to go out there! We also went to see a shipwreck one day which was pretty cool! But it wasn´t that easy... There was a 15 min walk through MUD and it felt like you were sinking in the mud and never getting out! But yeah it was good fun and we survived! :D On my last night in Airlie Beach we went out again and in the morning I had to catch a bus to Cairns that was my last destination! Laters!

The East Coast: Fraser Island

Fraser Island oli ehdottomasti yks koko reissun kohokohdista! Loputtomasti rantaviivaa, safarihurjasteliua maasturissa kaheksan hengen tyttöporukan voimin, uskomattoman kirkasta vettä Lake McKenziellä, upeita maisemia, villeinä juoksentelevia Dingoja, teltassa nukkumista (eli jäätymistä), Eli Creekissä eli upeessa ja voimakkaassa vesivirrassa uimista (täydellinen aktiviteetti darrapäivälle), hauskoja tyyppejä ja aivan liikaa goonia... Fraser Island on siitä ainutlaatuinen paikka, että se on maailman isoin hiekkasaari ja siellä on myös paljon sääntöjä , lähinnä luonnonsuojeluun liittyviä kuten villien dingojen ruokkiminen on kiellettyä. Meressä ei saa myöskään uida ollenkaan, koska on tosi todennäköistä että hai hyökkää kimppuun. Joka tapauksessa en kyllä vaihtais tätä kokemusta mihinkään! Mut kyllä oli silti kiva päästä takasin hostellin suihkuun ton hullun leirielämän jälkeen... Seuraavaks vuorossa Whitsundays, pysykäähän mukana! ;)

Fraser Island was definitely one of the highlight of the whole trip for me! Endless coastlines, crazy safari 4 wheel driving with our awesome crew of 8 chicks, unbelievably clear water in Lake McKenzie, amazing views, dingoes running wild around the Island, sleeping (aka freezing) in a tent, swimming in Eli Creek, which is like a fresh water spring with a strong current (it was a perfect hangover cure!!), awesome, funny people and way too much goon... Fraser Island is a pretty original place because it´s the world´s largest sand island and there are special rules on this Island, for example that you cannot feed wild dingoes or swim in the ocean because you would probably get killed by a shark etc... Anyways I would not change this experience to anything! But one thing I have to say: Getting back to the hostel and having a nice shower felt pretty amazing after a couple of days of crazy camping life on the Island... Next you´ll hear about Whitsundays, stay tuuuned! ;)

The East Coast: Noosa & Rainbow Beach

 

Helou! Aika jatkaa mun East Coast -reissua wuhuu! Eli tosiaan Byron Bayn jälkeinen etappi oli tosi kaunis ja ihana, pieni rantakaupunki nimeltä Noosa. Noosassa ei oo hurjasti tekemistä ja koko paikan ns. keskusta on tosi pieni. Siellä voi kuitenkin tehä ihania kävelyitä rannikkoa pitkin ja tottakai nauttia rantaelämästä, ja sitähän me tehtiinkin ihan kiitettävästi, heh.

Hi guys! It´s time to continue my East Coast trip woohoo! So after Byron Bay my next stop was a beautiful and lovely little beach town called Noosa. There´s not much to do in Noosa and the "center" is really really small. Anyway there are lovely coastal walks that you can do there and of course you can always just chill at the beach, which we did quite a lot, heh.

 

Muutaman yön jälkeen Noosassa piti taas hypätä bussiin ja seuraavaks vastassa oli Rainbow Beach. Se on yksi kahdesta pääpaikasta, joilta pääsee kätevästi kuuluisalle Fraser Islandille, josta lisää myöhemmin. Rainbow Beachillä vietin yhteensä vaan kaksi yötä, mikä oli kyllä ihan tarpeeks, koska tekemistä ei ollu oikeen muuta kun ottaa aurinkoa. Eli taas kerran: kaunis paikka, mutta ei kyllä mitenkään hurjasti aktiviteetteja. Joka tapauksessa musta on aina kiva nähä uusia paikkoja ja kyl tää Rainbow Beachkin oli ihan näkemisen arvonen ja pääsin ainakin ruokkimaan delfiinejä, mikä oli aika siistii! Hehe. Mutta siis seuraavaksi tarinoita Fraser saaresta, pian jatketaan! Jee!

After a couple of nights in Noosa I had hop on the bus again. The next stop was Rainbow Beach. It´s one of the two main places that have an access to the world famous Fraser Island that I´ll tell you more about later. I stayed only two nights in Rainbow Beach, which was definitely enough because there wasn´t really anything else to do than sunbathing. So once again: a really beautiful place but not that many activities. Anyway I always enjoy seeing and exploring new places, so of course it was nice to see and at least I got to handfeed dolphins which was pretty cool! Hehe. In the next post you´re gonna hear stories about Fraser. The journey will continue very soon! Yay!

The South Coast: Narooma part two

Moikka taas! Vihdoin netti toimii taas ja voi palata kivoihin juttuihin, kuten blogin päivittämiseen, jeee! Palataan vielä hetkeks pääsiäismeininkeihin, jotka meillä meni siis Etelärannikon liikuttavassa pikkukaupungissa nimeltä Narooma. Koko reissu oli niin onnistunu ja rentouttava, vaikka paljon tekemistäkin keksittiin joka päivä! Kohokohta oli ehdottomasti se kun päästiin uimaan hylkeiden kanssa pikku saarella nimeltä Montague Island. Ihan uskomaton kokemus! Aluks kun nähtiin hylkeet loikoilemassa kallioilla, oli vaikee uskoa että ne oikeesti tulis veteen samaan aikaan kun me mennään uimaan. Mut kyl se vaan tapahtu! Heti kun oltiin saatu märkäpuvut päälle niin hylkeet oli uteliaina ja leikkisinä vedessä vastaanottamassa meitä! Niin epätodellista. Vedessä saatiin sit olla sellaset 40 minuuttia (joka meni aivan liian nopeesti, vaikka vesi olikin kylmähköä). Tehtiin ilmeitä ja hassuja liikkeitä jotta hylkeet reagois, ja kyllä ne oli innoissaan! Yks tuli jopa tökkäämään mun nenää omallaan ja sen jälkeen katos salaman nopeesti ties minne. Joo niin tää oli tosiaan varmaan paras juttu mitä oon elämässäni tehny, ei edes laskuvarjohyppy mee ohi, vaikka oli sekin aika mahtava kokemus. Valitettavasti mulla ei ollu vielä tollon Gopro:ta hankittu joten hylkeet jäi vaan kallisarvoseks muistoks mielessä :)

Hey again! The internet is working again, finally, so it`s time to return doing nice things like blogging, yeyy! Let`s jump back to Easter that we spent on the South Coast in a lovely little town called Narooma. The whole trip was such a success and so relaxing, even though we definitely found things to do everyday! The highlight of the trip was absolutely swimming with Seals on this little Island called Montague Island. It was an unbelievable experience! At first when we saw the seals lying on the rocks it was really hard to believe that they would actually come into the water with us. But it really happened! By the time we got our wet suits on the seals were already in the water full of curiosity and ready to play with us! So unreal. We had about 40 minutes in the water (it went by way too fast even though the water was kinda cold).We made faces and funny moves to get the seals react and yep, they were excited! One of them came to say hi by touching my nose and then disappeared so quickly that I didn`t even know which way it went. This is probably the best thing I`ve done in my life so far, not even skydive beats this even though it was awesome too. Unfortunately I didn`t have a gopro then so the only photos of the seals are the ones in my mind :)

No mitä muuta me sitten tehtiin Naroomassa? Esim kruisailtiin avoautolla Jimi Hendrixin soidessa, käytiin tappajavalas -museossa, leivottiin korvapuusteja, pelattiin ihan liikaa banaani -scrabblea (kuvitelkaa scrabble nopeuspelinä! Todella addiktoiva...) ja syötiin ihan liikaa ihan liian hyvää ruokaa, suklaata ja juotiin viiniä. Ainiin kerettiin kanssa käydä vähän rantsulla, nähä wallabi ja katella leffoja ja sen sellasta. Voi kun oli ihana pääsiäisloma, varmaan paras ikinä! Mutta joo seuraavassa postauksessa lisää mun East Coast -reissusta, nyt meen valmistautumaan illalliselle. Laters alligaattorit!

What else did we do in Narooma? Well we cruised a bit with a convertable (MX5 or something?) while listening Jimi Hendrix, we went to a killer whale museum, made some Finnish cinnamon rolls, played Bananagram (imagine a crazy version of scrabble, where the fastest wins! Very addictive...) and of course we ate way too much way too good food, chocolate and drank wine. Oh and we also had time to go to the beach a bit, see a wallaby, watch movies and all that jazz. It was such a lovely Easter holiday, probably the best ever! But yea in the next post I`ll tell more about my East Coast roadtrip. Now I`m gonna go and get ready for dinner tonight. Laters allygators!
